Vancouver

Vancouver is consistently rated one of the most livable cities in the world. It has accomplished this by recognizing that livability is affected by many different aspects life in the community.

Vancouver is renowned for its breathtaking natural setting and a cosmopolitan flair, complimented by parks, gardens, beaches plus a variety of cultural and recreational facilities. Greater Vancouver is also served by an international airport, bus lines and rail.

Burnaby

Population: 197,292

Incorporated in 1892, Burnaby, was at that time an agricultural centre. As it grow it transformed from a farming area to a residential community. Today it's the most heavily populated district in Greater Vancouver. Burnaby is on Hwy 99A, 12 km (7 mi) east of Vancouver. Main entrances from Hwy 1 are Grandview Hwy, Sprott Street, Wellingdon Avenue and Cariboo Interchange. Activities include tennis, golfing, wildlife viewing, fishing, boating, museums, theatre, shopping and dining. There are numerous motels and hotels, as well as bed and breakfast places and RV parks for campers. Burnaby is located at the geographical centre of the Greater Vancouver Regional District. Situated between the City of Vancouver on the west and Port Moody, Coquitlam and New Westminster on the east, the City is further bounded by Burrard Inlet and the Fraser River on the North and South respectively.

Coquitlam

Population: 112,278

Coquitlam is strategically located at the geographic centre of the Lower Mainland, making the City an attractive place for residents, industries and a thriving retail sector. Coquitlam is bordered by the municipalities of Port Moody, Port Coquitlam, Burnaby and New Westminster, as well as the Fraser River to the south, Pitt River to the east and the Coastal Mountains to the north.
The four distinct areas of Coquitlam include Southwest Coquitlam, The Town Centre, Westwood Plateau, and Northeast Coquitlam.

North Vancouver

Population: 48,000

The City of North Vancouver is a waterfront municipality on the north shore of Burrard Inlet, directly across from Vancouver, British Columbia. It is the smallest of the three North Shore municipalities, and the most urbanized as well. Although it has significant industry of its own, including shipping, chemical production, and film production, the City is usually considered to be a suburb of Vancouver. Favourite activities include hiking; biking; good down hill and cross country skiing; fishing; a petting farm; forestry tours; dining; as well as shopping.

Port Moody

population: 23,819

Port Moody is located at the head of Burrard Inlet and at the foot of Eagle Mountain on the North Shore. Port Moody is 30 minutes from downtown Vancouver and the US border, and just steps from seaside parks, mountain trails and lakes. Port Moody offers plenty of activities for the outdoor enthusiast such as boating, hiking, sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, cycling at one of the many lakes and parks. This vital community also offers a diverse mix of cafes, restaurants, boutiques and markets. Known as the "City of the Arts", Port Moody boasts a dozen local art galleries and stages year-round arts and theatre events.

West Vancouver

Population: 41,421

One of Canada's most picturesque residential areas. Bordered by Burrard Inlet to the south and Howe Sound to the west, West Vancouver is along the lower slope of Hollyburn Mountain that's between Capilano River valley and Horseshoe Bay.
West Vancouver is just west of Lions Gate Bridge, that crosses Burrard Inlet via Hwy 99. or cross the Inlet via the Second Narrows Bridge on Hwy 1. From Vancouver Island take one of the many B.C. Ferries to Horseshoe Bay. West Vancouver is a district municipality in the province of British Columbia. It was home to 41,425 as of 2001. Cypress Provincial Park will be one of the venues for the 2010 Winter Olympics. West Vancouver is also a 2006 Cultural Capital of Canada.
It is located on the North Shore and is adjoined by the District of North Vancouver. West Vancouver is also home of Canada's first shopping mall, Park Royal Shopping Centre.
